The excitement begins when you find out you are expecting, but if this is your first time, you are nervous about what is yet to come. The second time, you wonder, will I be as sick or nauseated as the first time? No matter if this is your first, third or fifth time, no two pregnancies are alike. What works for one, does not work for another, especially when it comes to morning sickness.
Morning sickness tends to pop up around the 8-week mark ending around 12-16-weeks (or so). But do not fear it, a Cornell University study showed that morning sickness may actually be a good thing, protecting the baby and mom-to-be. (This is a great study to read).
One product that helps many women is Preggie Pops. Preggie Pops are naturally flavored hard candies that have been specifically designed using essential oils to help relieve nausea and morning sickness. During my first pregnancy, Preggie Pops became a staple in my diet, but during my second pregnancy, there was nothing anything could do to help. However I did use them during my VBAC attempt the second time around. It helps alleviate dry mouth.
Here is what I like about Preggie Pops:
* No artificial colors, sugars, flavors
* Kosher and made in the USA
* They are really ALL natural
* Use of essential oils to help ease tummy issues. Peppermint and citrus has been used to help ease nausea as well.
* There is an organic option and uses organic brown rice syrup, which is slower to release sugar in the system.
They do offer "sugar-free" Preggie Pops. I personally do not recommend the use of Splenda(TM) to eat since the body does not recognize the chemical and has a hard time digesting it. I question its safety for the use of expecting mothers and the effects on the unborn fetus.
I have and will continue to recommend the use of Preggie Pops (the original flavor, not sugar-free) for morning sickness and to use during labor. Preggie Pops can be found in boutiques to national chains like Babies R' Us.
